Running on

Revuluri dropped out of the race on Sept. 30, 2026, saying "the gusher of special-interest cash has crowded out the voices of real Chicagoans"; his name will still appear on the ballot. Before withdrawing, he said he was running to put students at the center of every board decision, pointing to declining enrollment, record chronic absenteeism, and two-thirds of students not reading at grade level as the problems to fix. He says the board needs to clarify its role and goals, practice student-centered governance, and focus spending on learning outcomes. He has said the board must be willing to make hard budgeting calls and has criticized what he describes as a slogan-driven approach to district funding. At a WTTW forum in September 2026 he said there are "too many schools that are too empty to give kids a quality educational experience."
