Running on
DeBerry says she is running for fully funded schools rooted in justice and equity, funded by taxing corporations and billionaires rather than cutting classrooms. She calls for schools that serve children holistically, from universal pre-K starting at age 3 through wraparound family support, with resources invested in as one system so no neighborhood competes for what every child deserves. She has also spoken about protecting students amid immigration enforcement threats.
Background
A former CPS kindergarten and first grade teacher and former Local School Council member at Gale Elementary, she has worked as an education organizer with ONE Northside since 2014, where she oversees a Parent Mentor program. She won the District 2A seat in the 2024 election.
