Smith's campaign platform centers on budgets, curriculum, and personnel: adequate funding for safe learning environments, comprehensive curricula including arts, physical education, and life skills, and support and professional development for educators. Seeking a second term, he has said he wants to expand student agency in board governance, including having students make up a third of public commenters and creating a student board member with a limited role, along with stronger support and training for Local School Councils.
