Running on

Rivas says he is running on strong neighborhood schools in communities like Humboldt Park, Logan Square, and Hermosa, expanding the community schools model with wraparound services such as mental health support and after-school programming, and protecting LGBTQ+ and immigrant students. He also emphasizes transparency, responsible budgeting, and giving parents, educators, and Local School Councils meaningful input, and he has said the board must fight for adequate resources across the district while supporting school choice and access to specialized programs.

Background

Rivas directs public affairs for Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability and previously worked for Chicago Public Schools. He was elected to the board's District 3b seat in November 2024.
