Anthony Hargrove

Chicago Board of Education, District 5b, on the Chicago ballot November 3, 2026.

Running on

Hargrove has said he is focused on re-engaging students who have left CPS, getting them back in school, into GED programs, or into trades, and on connecting students to trade unions and apprenticeship tracks. He has also said he would review district spending data to find overspending without interrupting the quality of instruction, and would hold weekly and monthly town halls and visit schools if elected. These statements are from his 2024 candidacy; no 2026-specific platform statement could be verified.

Background

Hargrove has worked in Chicago Public Schools for about 20 years, including as a culinary instructor at Orr Academy, dean at Wendell Phillips High School, chief dean at Marshall High School, and operations manager at Fenger Academy. He is associate director of Breakthrough Beyond, a program that re-engages students who have stopped attending CPS.
