Angel Alvarez
Chicago Board of Education, District 4a, on the Chicago ballot November 3, 2026.
Running on
Alvarez says limiting CPS property tax increases is his top priority and that the district can do more with the money it has by cutting waste and giving Local School Councils more say over school budgets, while still seeking state funding. He wants more responsive special education services and would push the city to screen all children for learning and other disabilities before they start school. He has also signed the Illinois Families for Public Schools pledge calling for a three-year pause on generative AI in CPS, a district chief privacy officer, limits on student device time, and a ban on collecting biometric data.
Background
Scientist, research assistant professor of neurology, and director of the Stem Cell Core at Northwestern University. Leads a family advisory board for the CPS Office for Students with Disabilities and is a former Local School Council member.
