Garcia's campaign site lists raising the federal minimum wage, passing the PRO Act, expanding the Child Tax Credit, Medicare for All, and fully funding public schools. She says she supports a pathway to citizenship, protections for Dreamers and mixed-status families, and restructuring immigration agencies including abolishing ICE, along with reversing Citizens United, a ban on congressional stock trading, clean energy investment, and an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. In a July 2026 Sun-Times interview she said voters are raising immigration enforcement, the cost of rent and medicine, and reproductive rights.

Background

She served as district director and then chief of staff to Rep. Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia (no relation) for more than seven years and holds a PhD in education policy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
