Elected countywide in 2020 as the Democratic Party's pick; hears civil jury cases, including evictions, personal injury, and property damage lawsuits, in the First Municipal District. Injustice Watch reports that the Illinois Appellate Court vacated his criminal contempt order sentencing a self-represented father to seven days in jail during an eviction trial, finding the man's statements did not meet the bar for criminal contempt. It also reports that he owns several rental properties, mostly on the North Side; he did not respond to its request for comment. A judge stays on the bench with a yes from 60 percent of voters.
